André Bosmans
poet
André Bosmans is, like Jacques Wergifosse, a Liège poet, and an admirer of Magritte. At the beginning of the summer 1958, the young man, feeling dejected during his military service, writes to the painter to express his esteem. That first letter was the start of an intense correspondence. In 1961, Bosmans founds the review Rhétorique, which would primarily serve as a platform for Magritte, and to which the artist would contribute in most of the thirteen installments. Bosmans remained ever true to Magritte, and their letters– over 400 – were published in their entirety in 1990.
