Since the creation of the on-line René Magritte Research centre, the Archives of Contemporary Art in Belgium have bought many documents of capital importance for the study of René Magritte’s œuvre and of Surrealism.

Among these documents one finds: The Golden Book of the exhibition René Magritte at the Galerie Dietrich, Brussels, January 4th-22nd, 1941 (inv. 118621), the archives of the artist Jane Graverol (1905-1984), a picture of the Exposition surréaliste d’objets at the Galerie Charles Ratton, Paris, May 1936 (inv. 118205). Charly Herscovici, president of the René Magritte Foundation, entrusted us in March 2010 with the extremely precious gift of the Pressbook René Magritte, 1947-1986 (inv. 118674) which was initiated by the painter himself with the help of his trader Alexandre Iolas and his adviser Harry Torczyner.
